Breaking news: As Virgil van Dijk’s absence is explained and the duo is out, every Liverpool player is available except for the

Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool face Toulouse in the Europa League, with seven players set to miss out as the Reds look to finish first in Group E.

Liverpool will finish second in Group E with two games to spare if it wins away at Toulouse after winning 5-1 at home. If Union SG fails to win away at LASK, Jürgen Klopp’s side could even win the group.

Liverpool has already been rotating heavily for this competition, but it would have even more leeway if it could secure early passage to the knockout stages.

That would be a welcome boost for Klopp and his staff after a run of Premier League games featuring both Manchester City and Manchester United.

But, in order to take care of business, will Liverpool field a particularly strong team here? There’s also the weekend match against Brentford to consider, with Klopp hoping to rebound from the disappointing draw at Luton.

His hand will be forced in some departments. The midfield, in particular, remains troubled, with Spanish duo Thiago Alcântara and Stefan Bajeti still out.

They’re joined on the absentees list by both Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch, with Liverpool having now confirmed its squad traveling to France.

Jones missed out at the weekend with a ‘minor’ problem, but was not present in the most recent training photos, and nor was his Dutch partner.

This leaves Klopp with only limited options, and could lead to a rare start for Alexis Mac Allister as a number eight.

Rather more surprisingly, Virgil van Dijk has also been left out of the traveling party.

The Liverpool captain took part in training on Wednesday, but will join Jones and Gravenberch in staying at home.

Klopp said in his press conference that the Reds man has a slight illness and therefore didn’t travel on the plane.
