BREAKING NEWS: Amid rumors of his departure, Spurs coach Postecoglou has changed his mind regarding the 25-year-old Spurs star exit as a result of…
Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.
The 25-year-old defender has fallen down the pecking order and he is no longer a regular starter for the north London club. Naturally, he has been linked with a number of clubs recently.
However, manager Ange Postecoglou has decided to hold on to him beyond the January transfer window. Tottenham are not keen on weakening their squad this month and any move for Emerson Royal will have to wait until the summer transfer window.
A report from Football Insider states that Spurs were open to selling him, but the Australian manager has now changed his mind.
The Brazilian is versatile enough to operate as a full-back as well as a central defender. He could prove to be a useful option for Tottenham during rotation and injuries.
He is currently behind Pedro Porro in the pecking order and he is unlikely to start for Tottenham in the coming weeks. It remains to be seen whether he is prepared to work hard in training and force his way into the manager’s first-team plans in the coming weeks.
Emerson has had a mixed spell at Tottenham since joining the club and he will need to add more consistency to his performances in order to play regularly at this level.
On the other hand, Porro has been in outstanding form for the Londoners and he has firmly established himself as one of the best full-backs in the country.
