Harry Kane says there is sadness that ‘top manager and really good guy’ Thomas Tuchel is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
After three defeats on the spin this month it was decided that Tuchel will move on at the end of the campaign, sparking speculation over who will replace him.
Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso and former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane have been touted for the huge job in Bavaria, but nothing has been agreed as yet.
Bayern got back to winning ways on Saturday by beating RB Leipzig 2-1 thanks to two more goals from Kane as he took his Bundesliga tally to 27 for the season.
Speaking after the victory on Tuchel’s imminent departure, the England captain said: ‘The club made a decision. We players have to show our responsibility to the manager, our responsibility to the club, to give everything we have for the season.
‘We knew as players we haven’t been performing as well as we can. You can’t just sit there and talk about it. You have to fight and work hard at every moment and that’s what we did today’
Kane told ESPN: ‘Of course we have sadness because he’s a top manager and a really good guy.

‘The club made a decision to part ways in the summer and that’s football. From a player’s point of view we owe a responsibility to the coach, the team, the coach to fight for every point this season and that’s what we’ll do. We’ve got good characters. That’s all we can do, keep working, keep pushing.’

Of the agreement that he will leave at the end of the season, Tuchel told Sport Studio: ‘I won’t give any details about the face-to-face conversation. But in the end I’m an employee. And employees don’t always have all the options, they don’t always have all the trump cards in their hands.
‘But everything’s fine. It doesn’t matter at all how I deal with the decision. I’m in a leadership role, I have responsibility for the entire staff. It’s top level sports, we’ll fight for every point. Sensitivities are put aside.’
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund told Sky: ‘I’m very sorry. Thomas has invested a lot and put a lot of energy into it. We now all have to work together to ensure that we spend three more nice and successful months together.’
