BREAKING NEWS: Real Madrid could come knocking for Spurs’ star next summer.

PA Sport reporter George Sessions says there is a possibility that Real Madrid could make a surprise move for Richarlison next summer.

After struggling to hit the expected heights for his first year and a half at Spurs following his £60m move from Everton, the 26-year-old is now starting to show just why the Lilywhites paid a huge fee for him.

The Brazilian has been in terrific form in front of goal since returning from groin surgery, having found the back of the net five times in his last five Premier League appearances (Opta).

With Son Heung-min away at the Asian Cup with South Korea, Ange Postecoglou will hope that Richarlison can keep his hot streak in front of goal going.

Real Madrid could come knocking for Richarlison

Sessions has now suggested that the striker looks likely to stay beyond next summer unless there is a mammoth offer or if the likes of Real Madrid come in for him.

Interestingly, some Spanish outlets did suggest last summer that Carlo Ancelotti was keen on reuniting with Richarlison at the Santiago Bernabeu (Defensa Central) and Sessions believes that the Los Blancos could try again for the player next summer.

The journalist told The Spurs Chat Podcast: “Unless someone from the Saudi league comes in with a massive bid, or from a romantic side, Real Madrid come in. If Richarlison has a great end to the season and Real Madrid want another Brazilian number nine, that’s always been one that you could maybe see happening.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Richarlison maintains his current run of form until the end of the season, I cannot see Tottenham letting him leave. Even if the striker’s head is turned by Real Madrid’s approach, the North London club would likely demand a mammoth fee that will put off the La Liga giants.

An update from AFCON and the Asian Cup as Son, Sarr, and Bissouma all qualify

Tottenham Hotspur trio Heung-min Son, Pape Sarr, and Yves Bissouma have all seen their nations qualify for the next round of the Asia Cup and the African Cup of Nations, so Spurs fans will have to wait to see them return to the club. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Spurs skipper, Heung-min Son, is leading South Korea in the Asia Cup this month, which is a huge loss for the North London club, of course.

Meanwhile, Yves Bissouma is representing Mali and Pape Sarr is participating in his first AFCON tournament for current holders, Senegal.

When the three players jetted off for international duty, Spurs fans braced themselves to be without the influential trio for all of January and part of February, but at least one player will be heading back sooner than that.

How have Son, Sarr, and Bissouma fared this week?

After South Korea’s rather surprising 3-3 draw against Malaysia yesterday, in which Son scored an injury-time penalty, the Spurs man will remain in Qatar a while longer. South Korea qualified in second place in their group and will now face Saudi Arabia on January 30 in the round of 16.

Bissouma played the full 90 minutes but saw his Mali side stutter with a 0-0 draw against Namibia on Wednesday, but Mali qualify as group winners there. They will now face Burkina Faso in the round of 16, also playing on January 30.
