Many people will be surprised by Burnley’s transfer fee for James Trafford, but it might be quickly justified.
The youth international for England and Manchester City is reportedly moving to Turf Moor as part of a £19
million deal. Burnley, who easily won the Championship last year and are getting ready to play in the Premier
League again with Vincent Kompany, will have to spend a large sum of money on that.
Jordan Beyer, Dara O’Shea, Michael Obafemi, and Lawrence Vigouroux were all signed this summer by the
Belgian manager, but the Clarets still have work to do. The arrival of Trafford, who hopes to bring home a medal
from winning the Under 21 European Championship, appears imminent. Israel will take on the Young Lions in
the semifinal of the competition.
James Trafford has already demonstrated his ambition to Vincent Kompany.
Under Kompany’s leadership, Trafford will forego the Championship and challenge the top division. The teenage
goalkeeper will be tested against the top in the field after 18 months of success with Bolton Wanderers. At Turf
Moor, Kompany’s hiring practices have been nearly flawless to date, and the potential of Trafford intrigues.
Burnley will force Trafford out of the Etihad Stadium, where he has a four-year deal. The athlete exudes complete
self-assurance and a fierce determination to succeed, two traits that would strike a chord with Kompany. He
often received praise for his efforts when playing for Bolton, and Matt Gilks, the Wanderers goalie coach,
discussed Trafford’s.
‘Can you just shoot at me and I’ll save it,’ he would ask on occasion during practice. Similar like when you want to
dive about on the playground as a child, Gilks added. ‘Can you simply take shots?’ he would ask. I would respond,
“Well, Traff, it doesn’t really work like that, we need to warm up first.”
He adores his role as a keeper. It’s amazing that you have such confidence at such a young age since many people
hesitate and start to worry, “I hope I don’t do this wrong, I hope I don’t do that wrong.” He is totally the opposite
way around, yet he is also quite grounded.
He made game-winning saves for us in a number of games, and with his team.
