Liverpool injuries latest as Alisson and Diogo Jota updates awaited and three others out

Liverpool injury news: Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota were both injured during the Man City game while Jürgen Klopp is set to be without others against LASK.

Liverpool has been fairly unharmed by injuries for most of this season. It helps, of course, that Jürgen Klopp can now call upon a group of players that are considerably more reliable when it comes to availability.

With more players fit on a regular basis, that means more rotation is possible to keep everyone fit. It has also helped, of course, that the Reds are in the Europa League rather than the Champions League this season. That has helped Klopp rotate as well, with more winnable matches despite heavily changed starting XIs.

The wait continues for updates on Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota and there will be worries about the pair’s fitness until a full update is issued. That will be something that Klopp is asked in his pre-match press conference.

Here, Liverpool.com rounds up the latest injury news ahead of the LASK game in the Europa League on Thursday and the Premier League clash at home to Fulham on Sunday. Klopp has plenty of options available to him for those fixtures, though there are some stars who are set to sit them out.

Andy Robertson

Having undergone successful surgery, it is simply a waiting game from here on in for Andy Roberton to come back into the Liverpool team. “I’m getting there, slowly and surely. Surgery was a success which was the main thing, no complications from it or anything like that,” Robertson stated during the last international break (via the ECHO).

“It’s so far so good, three weeks since my surgery now so everything is progressing well, I have just got to take it bit by bit and week by week. Everything has gone well up to this point and hopefully that continues. Hopefully, before we know it I’ll be back on the grass.”

Liverpool injuries: Latest Alisson, Jota & Robertson news and potential return dates

Liverpool is still awaiting the results of the scans for Alisson and Jota after they were injured in the game against Manchester City over the weekend. Klopp is likely to give an update in his pre-LASK press conference and the Reds will be keen to avoid a lengthy period of absence for either star. Caoimhín Kelleher and Cody Gakpo will be on standby for some more action.

Thiago Alcântara and Stefan Bajčetić

Both Spanish midfielders, Thiago Alcântara and Stefan Bajčetić, are set to miss the rest of the calendar year and an exact date of their return is not yet known in 2024. Liverpool will take no risks with either player as they are slowly reintegrated. There is no immediate need for either player with Klopp having plenty of other players to select in the center of the pitch.

But, of course, it would clearly be beneficial for Liverpool to be able to call upon some additional quality. Thiago is out of contract at the end of the season and Bajčetić is one of the most highly-rated young talents that Liverpool has.
