Alexis Mac Allister has heaped praise on reported Liverpool target Valentin Barco after watching him play in the Copa Libertadores final last weekend.

Barco is one of the most talented young defenders in South America at the moment.

He is destined to move to a big club in Europe, and he has been linked with plenty already, including Liverpool.

Alexis Mac Allister praises Liverpool target Valentin Barco

Valentin Barco has attracted a ton of interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

The Daily Star recently claimed that Manchester City are keen to sign the 19-year-old defender, as are Liverpool, who are rumoured to be lining up a move to sign him.

Barco made an impression even though Boca Juniors lost their Copa Libertadores final match against Fluminense, playing 78 minutes for the team.

Alexis Mac Allister, a fellow Argentine and star for Liverpool, has recently spoken highly of Barco.

“I had the chance to see him and I’m not saying anything new when I say he’s a great player,” he said on D Sports Radio, according to Sportwitness’ translation.

“He has a lot of ability and even when it looks like the opponents are going to take the ball away from him, nobody can take it away from him.

He’s still young and we have to take it little by little.

“I see him very focused, even if sometimes on the pitch he sometimes throws a little bit too much.

He can be a very important player for our country and represent us very well in Europe.”

Liverpool can sign Barco for just £8m

The last left-back Liverpool signed for £8 million was Andy Robertson (BBC).

Not many people really rated him at the time, but Jurgen Klopp put his faith in the Scotsman, and he quickly became one of the best players in his position in the world.

Now, Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Valentin Barco, and ironically, the teenager can be bought for just £8 million as well thanks to a release clause in his contract (90min).

Newcastle United and Manchester City are also watching him.

Barco has a massive future ahead of him, and it will be interesting to see where he’ll end up in 2024.
