DONE DEAL: liverpool has finally reach the demand of an incredible wonder kid Central Midfielder

On Monday, one Liverpool player agreed to a new contract.

Afolami Onanuga has signed his first professional contract at Anfield, according to the club’s official website, with the 17-year-old rising through the age grades from under-11 to Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s current under-18 squad.

After being spotted playing grassroots football in Manchester, the teenager was signed by the Merseyside club, and he can now officially say that he plays the sport as a full-time job.

Onanuga – or ‘Fola,’ as he’s colloquially known – has been capped by England at under-15 level and has been described as a ‘talented player who links the game well and looks to have a positive impact in the attacking third’ by Liverpool’s official website.

He’s appeared five times in the Under-18 Premier League this season, including setting up Trent Kone-Doherty’s game-winning goal in a 4-2 win at Blackburn in September, and he made his debut at under-21 level in an EFL Trophy match against Blackpool last month (Transfermarkt).

Last week, the aforementioned Irish attacker signed his first professional contract, and with Trey Nyoni, another of the Reds’ under-18s, catching the eye, the Reds appear to have a few more promising gems coming through the pipeline.

Just as Ben Doak, Stefan Bajcetic, and Jarell Quansah have broken through to the first team in the last 12 months, Onanuga will hope to do the same in the coming years following today’s historic news.
