Done Deal: 51-year-old Sheffield Wednesday Legend To Sign Deal As New Manager.

After Darren Moore’s abrupt resignation, only weeks after guiding the team to promotion from League One via the play-offs,

Wednesday is looking for a new manager.

According to The Star, Moore and chairman Dejphon Chansiri’s disputes over transfer strategy had a significant role in the

choice, with the two parties allegedly “sitting on different ends of the scale in terms of the backing that would be required

and given.”

Although Chansiri later stated that there is “no chance” of the 57-year-old former manager Carlos Carvalhal accepting the

position, Vitor Campelos and Giuseppe Iachini are both rumored to be interested in taking over at Hillsborough.

In addition to managing teams like Pavia, Varese, and Ternana as well as serving as an assistant coach with Crotone and the

Azerbaijani national team, Carbone joined the Owls for £3 million in 1996 from Inter Milan.

What has Benito Carbone said about the Sheffield Wednesday job?

The 51-year-old recently disclosed his ambition to return to England and his intention to coach Wednesday at some point.

In February, Carbone said William Hill, “It would be easy for me to say, “I want to manage Sheffield Wednesday,” but

Darren Moore is now doing incredibly well.

They are in first place and have a great chance of returning to the Championship. However, managing Sheffield Wednesday

would be a dream come true for me if I were to do so in the future.

“However, I just genuinely want to coach in England; I’ve turned down job offers from Italy since managing here is a higher

priority.

“It doesn’t matter which English league I play in. I’m not naive; I am aware that it will be difficult for me to manage a

Premier League squad at this time.

“The club idea, and being able to create something with the club over the course of two or three years, is what matters most

to me.

“Therefore, it makes no difference which club it is. I want to prove to the people of England that I am capable.

“English players share the same mentality as mine when it comes to work ethic. Even though patience isn’t one of my

strongest traits, I’m trying.
