Arsenal has reiterated their desire to keep Polish defender Jakub Kiwior as the club considers potential roster changes in the upcoming January transfer window.
Despite growing interest from AC Milan, Arsenal have ruled out loaning out Polish centre-back Jakub Kiwior in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Serie A giants have been linked with the 23-year-old Gunners defender, who has seen limited playing time since arriving at the Emirates Stadium in January of this year.
AC Milan, always on the lookout for new players, were eager to sign Kiwior, who has found himself in a supporting role under manager Mikel Arteta.
Kiwior is important to Arteta as a backup to mainstay Gabriel Magalhaes, and he believes it is prudent to keep him in the squad.
Recent contact between Arsenal and AC Milan suggests that the Italian club’s interest is exploratory, with Arsenal refusing to rule out the possibility of a transfer.
This determination was on display over the summer, when Arteta personally vetoed a loan move to Sevilla, confirming his plans for Kiwior to be a part of the squad.
Mateusz Borek, a Polish journalist, confirmed Arteta’s decision to keep Kiwior despite Sevilla’s keen interest on Power of Futbolu.
“In the last transfer window, Sevilla really wanted to loan Kiwior to them.” The club was supposed to fight until the bitter end, but it was not enough to persuade Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger,” Borek reported.
Arteta previously stated about Kiwior, “He is a player that I really like, which is why I signed him.” He has the potential, at his age, to be great.”
