Arsenal plays Newcastle this weekend in a crucial game in the race for the top four and the title.
The Gunners are coming off a 5-0 league win over Sheffield United, but a 3-1 Carabao Cup loss to West Ham in midweek has raised some concerns about Mikel Arteta’s team selection.
Arteta has some important decisions to make in terms of who to start this game, and one player in particular is Eddie Nketiah.
The striker scored a hat-trick last week, but he wasn’t at his best against West Ham, and with Gabriel Jesus nearing full fitness, his place in the team could be jeopardized.
However, in an interview with the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman stated that if it were up to him, Nketiah would start this weekend’s game against Newcastle.
Nketiah will begin.
Seaman weighed in on the striker.
“I believe he’ll go with Eddie because he has confidence in him.” His objectives were brilliant. His hat-trick goal was a fantastic finish, a first-time strike into the top corner. So, if it were me, I’d go with Eddie. “Jesus can then be there because Eddie has a tendency to not be too involved in the game,” Seaman explained.
It has to begin.
It would be extremely strange if Nketiah did not initiate this game.
We can’t recall ever seeing a striker dropped after scoring a hat-trick in a Premier League game, and that shouldn’t change here.
Yes, he’s not the best big-game performer, and he can be wasteful, but he’s in good shape, and dropping him now would be devastating to his confidence.
In our opinion, Nketiah must begin here.
