Full Arsenal squad revealed for Sevilla as Mikel Arteta makes David Raya Champions League call
Arsenal news as Mikel Arteta has just one big team decision to make ahead of Sevilla with injury worries reducing at a key point of the season.
Mikel Arteta is working with near enough a fully fit Arsenal team ahead of the trip to Sevilla on Tuesday.
After losing last time out against RC Lens it is a crucial game in the makeup of the group and not one in which the Gunners can afford too much more of a slip up.
Although the group is tight, just one point separates top from bottom, losing here ahead of hosting Sevilla in the next round of games would bring unwanted pressure Arsenal’s way.
Fortunately for Arteta there is a great deal of injury positivity heading into the game.
Having struggled for 75 minutes away to Chelsea it was the depth and entire squad that helped swing the game back into a draw – as well as a large helping hand from Rob Sanchez.
Nothing makes this point more than Oleksandr Zinchenko once more being taken off at half-time but Leandro Trossard making his own huge impact, equalising late on.
Eddie Nketiah was also a pest for the Chelsea defence and might have earned himself a start for the trip to Spain.
As for Bukayo Saka, the 22-year-old was passed as fit to play the full 90 at Stamford Bridge and will likely be included once more.
Trossard himself had been a doubt heading into the game but also managed to come through the second half unscathed and will be hoping to get the nod from the get-go.
The big debate for Arteta comes in goal with Aaron Ramsdale once more in the spotlight despite not playing. He missed the game against Chelsea due to his partner giving birth.
That left David Raya to keep his place but an error for Mykhailo Mudryk’s goal and a stray pass towards Cole Palmer inside his box left fans feeling jittery and uncertain.
Ramsdale is once more available for selection, Arteta revealed on Monday, and trained with his teammates ahead of the game.
He has travelled with the squad and is set to be in the squad again but that doesn’t guarantee a place in the starting team.
Outside of Jurrien Timber, there are no new injury concerns, leaving Arteta with the ability to select 24 out of the initial 25 named in the Champions League squad at the start of the season.
Karl Hein could be included after being the backup ‘keeper on Saturday but would need to have been added via the B list if he is to be played.
