KREAKING NEWS: SHEFFILED WEDNESDAY EYE WENGER, AFTER THE DEPARTUER OF DARREN MOORE.

The unexpected departure of Darren Moore has Sheffield Wednesday looking for a new manager.

After guiding the Owls to a play-off-winning promotion from League One just three weeks prior, Moore left the team on Monday night by mutual consent.

According to The Star, Moore and chairman Dejphon Chansiri’s disputes over transfer strategy had a significant role in the choice, with the two “sitting on different ends of the scale in terms of the backing that would be required and given.”

The club is apparently considering bringing back former Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal, who twice guided the team to the Championship play-offs. Vitor Campelos, a Portuguese manager, is also claimed to be interested in the position.

It means there is a great deal of uncertainty as the Owls get ready to play in the second tier again. While picking a new manager will be the top priority, the team needs reinforcements as the season gets closer.

With the transfer window now open for business, we rounded up all the latest news from Hillsborough.

What recent transfer news is there regarding Sheffield Wednesday?

Unsigned winger is a target for Ipswich.

Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in Wednesday’s unemployed winger Marvin Johnson, according to The Star.

Johnson’s deal at Hillsborough expires this summer, and despite receiving a new offer, he hasn’t signed anything to extend it.

With three goals and 14 assists in 51 games in all competitions, the 32-year-old was a crucial component of the Owls’ promotion this season, solidifying his reputation as a dependable and consistent performer at left-wing back.

Other clubs are rumored to be interested in signing Johnson on a free transfer, so Ipswich is not the only team keeping an eye on him.

Discussions of a James reunion by Owls

Reece James, a defender for Blackpool, is allegedly being courted by Wednesday, according to The Star, albeit no agreement has yet been reached.

James had a very productive loan season with Hillsborough, making 34 appearances across all competitions while playing left center-back, left wing-back, and midfield. He scored one goal and provided four assists.

The 29-year-old’s intention to rejoin the team this summer has never been a secret.

I’ve enjoyed my time here, but I obviously need to wait and see what happens. Hopefully, something can be done. It has been fantastic and far more than I had anticipated. Everything about it, including the club and the city, made me fall in love, but I’ll have to wait and see

what happens, what plays out over the summer. I’ll be patient. I’ve absolutely loved my time here, and we’re all Wednesday aren’t we?” James told The Star earlier this month.

However, it remains to be seen whether Moore’s departure has an impact on the situation, with the 48-year-old known to be a big admirer of James having worked with him previously at Doncaster Rovers.

Will Sheffield Wednesday re-sign Jordan Storey this summer?

Another former loanee the Owls are keen to reunite with is Preston North End defender Jordan Storey, with Yorkshire Live claiming he is on their list of targets this summer.

Storey scored twice in 21 appearances for Wednesday in the second half of last season before establishing himself as a regular in the Lilywhites team this campaign after his return to Deepdale, scoring twice in 47 games in all competitions.

The 25-year-old is under contract at North End until summer 2025.

Wednesday’s plan involves an Arsenal player

The Owls are considering a transfer for Arsenal defender Brooke Norton-Cuffy, according to The Star.

Although “no formal approach has yet been launched,” the 19-year-old is “one of the players that have been discussed” by the Owls in relation to a prospective loan deal.

After spending the first half of the season on loan with Rotherham United, Norton-Cuffy made a short-term move to Coventry City in January.

He made 24 appearances for the Sky Blues as they advanced to the Championship Play-Off Final, and after his outstanding play for Mark Robins’ team, he is expected to be in high demand this summer.

Darren Moore myth debunked by Dejphon Chansiri as Sheffield Wednesday owner speaks out

The shock news of Darren Moore’s departure from Sheffield Wednesday was no less than 30 minutes old when the rumours started of the now ex-Owls manager having lined up a new job. Talk of a surprise return to West Bromwich Albion with Carlos Corberan going to Leeds United was one suggestion, as momentum gathered pace the manager had decided to leave because he had lined up something else.

It’s no secret Moore was unhappy with the club’s transfer business in the January window as he aimed to secure automatic promotion back to the Championship, with suggestions also arising that the recruitment meetings between the manager and chairman Dejphon Chansiri had not gone well the past week and that had led to Moore’s exit.

Speaking in a fans forum that lasted well over four hours on Tuesday evening, Chansiri gave some insight into the reasons behind Moore’s departure. There was no clear truth, no admission or revelation, with the chairman keeping his cards very close to his chest in that regard.

However, he did admit that Moore did not leave the club because he wanted to go to another job, with Chansiri going as far as stating Moore has not got anything lined up at all, busting the myth of his West Brom return or any other club for that matter.

Confirming it was Moore’s decision alone to leave the club, Chansiri said: “It’s not complicated. It happens in football: coaches come and go. This is normal. I can’t talk much because I promised with him I will not say anything. If he says first, then I will say it.

“If you want more info, maybe go and ask him. We have good relationship still. He brought us up to Championship and should get a chance. If you know me, I always support as much as I can. I was happy to let him be here but as a football business it’s normal. It’s football business, I’m sorry I can’t go more in-depth.”

Yorkshire Live have approached Darren Moore for a comment but unsurprisingly he has politely declined to speak on the matter.
