Dominik Szoboszlai’s performance at full time during the transfer uncertainty speaks much about Liverpool’s choice.
After Liverpool and Leicester City’s Carabao Cup match, Theo Squires provided a report.

In the 65th minute of the third-round League Cup match between Liverpool and Leicester City at Anfield, with the scores tied, Jurgen Klopp looked to his bench for motivation.
Naturally, the German had a wide variety of options because he changed his starting lineup 10 times for the game against the Foxes.
Even though Mohamed Salah received a rare night off, Klopp still had Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz in reserve that he could use to score.
In the end, the Kop sang the name of the in-form Uruguayan as soon as he got up from the bench to prepare to enter the game.
However, the Reds’ performance was overshadowed and stolen by the player who entered the game alongside Nunez.
Only eight games into his Liverpool career, Dominik Szoboszlai has already made it very evident that the Hungary captain is a top-tier talent.
You might thus question why the 22-year-old wasn’t higher on the Reds’ radar for potential transfers.
when all, the Hungarian emerged as Liverpool’s next targeted goal as part of their long-awaited midfield rebuild only when attention was diverted from players like Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount.
An acquisition from RB Leipzig at £60 million already seems like a steal. Every time Szoboszlai wears the renowned Red shirt, people become excited.
Following Cody Gakpo’s equalizer, Klopp and the Kop may have thought Nunez would save the day for Liverpool against the Foxes, but their new number eight had other plans.
Wataru Endo passed the ball to him, and 25 yards from goal, in front of the Kop no less, he fired an incredible rocket into the top corner off the underside of the bar. His time on the field was only five minutes.
Szobozslai had already proved one early iconic goalscoring moment in the formative weeks of his Liverpool career with a well-taken effort against Aston Villa. But as good as that strike was, his latest effort was even better.
Partly taking on the number eight shirt because of his admiration for Reds legend Steven Gerrard, the Hungarian has already been quietly compared to one of the club’s greatest players since joining the club.
It’s the way he runs and carries the ball forward, as well as the way he strikes it with stunning accuracy when threading it through to team-mates or shooting at goal.
And against Leicester, he conjured a goal that Gerrard would have been proud of.
While on this occasion, Liverpool were in control despite the scoreline and hardly needed Szoboszlai to grab the name by the scruff of the neck, he still stepped up when needed to produce a decisive moment of magic and help send the Reds through to the fourth round.
Gerrard made a career out of such ‘Roy of the Rovers’ moments, and on much bigger stages than the League Cup third round too.
For Szoboszlai, this is the first of many. And by scoring such a decisive, breath-taking strike in front of the Kop, he has already achieved what so many dream of.
As the last player to depart the Anfield field after the final horn, he thanked the entire fans and took in the moment after the 3-1 victory. He enjoys playing football for Liverpool.
A spectacular goal from a special player makes him already enjoyable to watch, and Kopites are aware that their team has acquired a player who is truly exceptional.
Even if Szoboszlai’s Reds career has had an exciting start, this is only the beginning.
