5 LIVERPOOL PLAYERS ARE ON INJURY DUE TO THE INTERNATIONAL GAMES

Trent Alexander-Arnold

The vice-captain came off in the second half of Liverpool’s victory over Aston Villa on September 3 with a suspected hamstring issue and was then forced to withdraw from the England squad. He will miss the Reds’ trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 16.

Jürgen Klopp on September 15: “He is not available [for Wolves], we knew that before. He didn’t train with the team once yet and will take a little bit. It is not the worst hamstring injury you can have but it’s a hamstring injury and they barely heal in two weeks – and this one didn’t, either.

“As he is running already, we hope he can start ball work early next week and then we will see and go from there.”

Ibrahima Konate

Konate missed two Reds matches prior to the international break due to a muscle injury and withdrew from the France set-up; however, he returned to training during the international break.

Thiago Alcantara

Thiago has been sidelined since requiring surgery on a hip issue that ruled him out of the final weeks of the 2022-23 campaign.

Klopp, speaking on September 15: “Thiago is running, but that’s it.”

Darwin Nunez

Klopp is confident the fitness concern that saw Nunez removed at half-time of Uruguay’s fixture with Ecuador on September 12 is not serious.

He said on September 15: “I didn’t see him yet, but we obviously had contact and he said it was fine, but we will see that now and make a couple of decisions there. Darwin should be fine.”

  • Suspensions

Virgil van Dijk

Van Dijk will miss Liverpool’s visit to Wolves on September 16 due to suspension.
