Sources: Liverpool pushing to sign Bakoyoko after two Burnley bids rejected
Liverpool, Everton, Crystal Palace and Burnley remain in the race to sign PSV star Johan Bakayoko before Friday’s (1 September) transfer
deadline, sources have told Football Insider.
The 20-year-old could become one of the most in-demand players in Europe during the final few days of the summer window.
Everton and Liverpool continue to monitor the winger’s situation, while Burnley have seen two bids rejected for his services this summer.
The latest of those offers totalled a fee of around £17.2million – but the Clarets are unlikely to be put off their pursuit of Bakayoko.
The rapid winger scored nine goals and provided six assists in 39 appearances for PSV last term.
He has managed four assists in six appearances across all competitions for the Dutch giants in the new campaign.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that a potential move for the youngster could depend on PSV qualifying for the Champions League
group stage.
Their play-off clash with Rangers is finely poised at 2-2 ahead of the second leg in Eindhoven on Wednesday (30 August).
Bakayoko made his senior Belgium debut in March and scored his first goal on his fourth appearance – a qualifier win over Estonia on 20 June.
The winger, who came through the youth ranks at Leuven, Club Brugge and Anderlecht, is under contract at PSV until June 2026.

Liverpool could sign ‘unhappy’ midfielder ‘in the next days’; transfer insider says club’s waiting for bids
Florian Plettenberg confirmed as much in his tweet on Monday evening amid the Reds’ ongoing search for a multi-functional midfield operator.
It had been understood that talks were taking place between the Merseysiders and Bayern Munich over the weekend, though it would appear that
further negotiation will be required to take a potential deal over the line.
Still short a left-sided centre-half beyond a fourth midfielder, Liverpool could do with hurrying matters in the market – especially given their
tendency to focus only on one deal at a time.
Though it should be emphasised that both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez performed admirably when tasked with standing in for Virgil van Dijk and
Ibrahima Konate at various stages against Newcastle, neither remain convincing long-term solutions for the backline.
To leave the position short ahead of the remainder of the campaign would be reminiscent of the level of negligence that inspired a similar degree of
inactivity in 2020/21.
