Jurgen Klopp broke his silence on reports linking Mohamed Salah to the Saudi Pro League.
On Thursday it emerged that Al Ittihad are prepared to go all out to try and sign Salah from Liverpool.
Indeed, the Saudi Pro League club reportedly made attempts to sign the Egyptian earlier in the window, having been one of the club’s top targets this summer.
Al Ittihad are thought to still be interested in Salah’s services, despite the player’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa saying earlier in August the player was committed to Liverpool.
While the likes of Sportzone claimed on Thursday that Salah had reached an agreement on a three year deal worth some £189million with Al-Ittihad, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that it is unclear at this stage if a deal for the 31-year-old will materialise.
Indeed, Salah signed a new contract at Anfield last summer, making him the highest paid player in Liverpool history, and the attacker still has two years remaining on that deal.
However, Klopp dismissed suggestion’s Salah’s departure was imminent, or claims that the Egyptian was eager to leave the club. Watch the above video to hear the German’s thought’s on Salah’s Saudi Pro League links.
On the matter, Reds boss Klopp said: “Yes (there isn’t anything to talk about).
“It’s difficult to talk about media stories as there’s nothing to talk about from our point of view. Mo Salah is a Liverpool player. There’s nothing there. If there was something the answer would be no (he’s not for sale).”
The German added: “My life philosophy is I think about a problem when I have it. At the moment, there’s nothing. I said already if there is something, the answer would be no. Is Mo still committed? 100%!”
While the final decision on Salah’s future rests with Liverpool, with Klopp eager to not sell the forward, Sky Sports News claimed that the winger would like to listen to what would be on offer.
Al Ittihad currently have Karim Benzema, Salah’s former Liverpool team-mate Fabinho, N’Golo Kante and ex-Celtic winger Jota in their side.
Fabrizio Romano reveals what he’s heard about Mo Salah as ‘Al Ittihad contract agreed’
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Mohamed Salah’s future amid claims Al Ittihad have reignited their interest in the Egyptian.
Salah, 31, has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, with several of the Gulf nation’s top clubs reportedly keen to sign the
Egyptian.
Al Ittihad, who have already signed Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, have emerged as favourites to land Salah – should Liverpool decide to sell this
summer.
Saudi outlet Arriyadiyah claimed on Thursday that Salah is ‘very seriously’ considering a lucrative contract offer from Al Ittihad.
Spanish publication Relevo went one step further and reported that the Liverpool star wants to leave the club, having been offered a deal that would
see him replace Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest-paid player in world football.
Meanwhile, SportZone claim Salah has already agreed to a three-year deal with Al Ittihad following a meeting between the club and his
representatives in Qatar.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein confirmed there is ‘concrete’ interest in Salah from Al Ittihad but says nothing has been agreed.
“It is unclear at this stage if a deal for the 31-year-old will materialise,” he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
