Liverpool have made a late bid to sign Moises Caicedo after making contact with Brighton over the midfielder.

Chelsea have been pushing to sign the midfielder for the majority of the window, but Mirror Football understands the Reds have contacted Brighton chiefs about a

potential move for Caicedo.

The Seagulls value him at £100m and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool or Chelsea will table a bid they decide to accept. Caicedo, meanwhile, has made it clear

he wants to leave and even sat out training earlier this week.

Chelsea rival Reds for Lavia

News of Liverpool’s interest in Caicedo comes after Chelsea submitted a £48m bid for Reds target Romeo Lavia.

Liverpool have had three offers rejected by Southampton, who want £50m for the teenager. Chelsea stepped up their interest in Lavia on Wednesday by tabling an

official bid and talks are set to continue between all parties about the player’s future.

Lavia was an unused substitute for Southampton in their Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday last Friday and was absent from the squad entirely as

they lost to Gillingham in the League Cup.
