BURNLEY IN ADVANCED IN NEGOTIATION TO LAND CLINICAL STAR FOR JUST £12M WHO WOULD SOLVE KOMPANY PERSISTANT PL PROBLEM ON MAN CITY OPENER

Burnley are in advanced talks to sign Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge for around £12m.

The Norway international has less than a year on his current deal with the Blades.

His performances have seen him regularly linked with a move away from Bramall Lane as he has been one of Sheffield United’s best players in recent seasons.

He joined the club for a record £22million back in January 2020 and has racked up 109 appearances for them across the Premier League and Championship.

Berge was a key part of Paul Heckingbottom’s team last season as they escaped the Championship and now Vincent Kompany is aiming to sign him from a likely

rival for the year ahead.

Burnley are also looking to bolster their midfield by adding Aston Villa’s Aaron Ramsey to their ranks.

The Clarets have tabled a £12m bid for the 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough and Norwich.

They have strengthened in various positions throughout the transfer window but are yet to sign a central midfielder.

Berge played a key role as the Blades managed to earn automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of last season.

Missing just nine games throughout the season, Berge ended with eleven goal contributions and has now emerged as a target for Burnley, who were also one of the

three other teams to have earned promotion.

Vincent Kompany’s team have made central midfield an area where they want to invest on a priority basis and Berge is one option they have shortlisted.

In fact, discussions between the two clubs have already started and things are advancing quickly.

However, Berge will not be having his medical with Burnley today.

He has less than a year left on his current contract with Sheffield United and the Blades look set to cash in on him.

Berge arrived in English football in 2020 and has so far featured in 109 games making 27 goal contributions.

He has regularly been linked with an exit from Sheffield United.
