The Owls are preparing for life back in the Championship and have finally dipped their toes into the transfer market with the
Chilean’s arrival.
Juan Delgado has become Sheffield Wednesday’s latest signing after arriving from Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira.
The 30-year-old’s contract length is undisclosed and it’s also unclear whether the Owls have paid a transfer fee or not
to secure the Chilean’s services. But his signing was much-needed and boosts the numbers at the disposal of manager Xisco
Munoz. He is the second signing of the summer after Reece James joined permanently from Blackpool.
His signing also increases the defensive options and he’s expected to challenge the likes of Liam Palmer and Dominic Iorfa
down the right-hand flank in the Championship next season.

Xisco Munoz has finally made a breakthrough in the transfer market with 30-year-old defender Delgado arriving at
Hillsborough as the club’s second summer signing
Sheffield Wednesday have finally ended their transfer drought by completing the signing of defender Juan Delgado. The 30-
year-old arrives on a permanent deal from Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira.
Delgado, who can operate at full-back or wing-back as well as further up the park, becomes the second arrival this summer
after Reece James’ loan deal from Blackpool was turned permanent. The Chile international, who has 12 caps for La Roja, is
expected to join up immediately with his new Wednesday teammates.
He is well-known to manager Xisco Munoz having been a player at Spanish side Gimnastic de Tarragona when Munoz was
serving as the team’s assistant at the time.
Having come through the academy at famed Chilean team Colo Colo, he then moved to Gimnastic before a loan spell at
Portuguese side Tondela. He then moved to Mexican outfit Necaxa prior to his switch to Pacos in 2021.
A statement on the club’s website said: “With over 300 domestic appearances to his name, Delgado brings significant
experience to Xisco’s backline ahead of our upcoming Championship campaign.”
There is the possibility that Delgado could make his debut in Tuesday night’s friendly away at Doncaster Rovers.
