Miron Muslic has been named the new head coach of Plymouth Argyle, Derby County’s Championship rivals. Muslic, who succeeded former Rams manager Wayne Rooney, who departed the team last month by mutual consent, confirmed his arrival in a statement released by Argyle this morning.
Muslic, who recently signed a three-and-a-half-year contract, managed Cercle Brugge, winning 43 of 101 games while in charge.
He has led Austrian teams Ried and Floridsdorfer AC before leading the Belgian team from a dismal domestic position to European football.
Muslic fended off considerable opposition for the post with former boss Steven Schumacher climbing towards the top of the bookies’ odds before to the announcement.
Chairman Simon Hallett stated: “Miron had a level of tactical acumen that made it evident how he wanted the club to set up and play, and he had a clear vision of how he wanted to lead Argyle forward.
He has received great praise for his work at Cercle Brugge, where he successfully led a team from a league relegation to European football—no small accomplishment.
I’d like to greet him as a member of the team and hope he makes an immediate contribution. Muslic takes over a Plymouth team that is only three points above the relegation zone in the Championship.
