Lewis Hamilton has officially switched to Ferrari as of New Year’s Day, ending a 12-year run at Mercedes. This is the move that the Formula 1 world has been waiting for for nearly a year.
For years, Ferrari has been vying for Hamilton’s coveted autograph. Due in part to his unrelenting pursuit of a driver who has won a record 105 Grands Prix, their chairman, John Elkann, has developed a friendship with the seven-time world champion.
