
Martyn Waghorn, a former forward for Hull City and Huddersfield Town, has left League One team Northampton Town.
Waghorn left Derby County at the close of the previous season and signed a short-term contract with the Cobblers only in early November.
He started once, scored once, and came off the bench seven times for the team. The seasoned frontman is back on the free agent market at the age of 34.
“Martyn came in and helped us through the last few weeks stated Ian Sampson interim manager of Northampton. All parties have now agreed to terminate the contract and we thank Martyn for his time with the club and wish him and his family the best of luck in the future.
Waghorn started his professional career with Sunderland and went on to represent the likes of Leicester City, Rangers and Ipswich Town.
He has had two spells in Yorkshire, first moving to the county for a loan spell at Hull in 2011 he returned in 2023, ending the 2022/23 season on loan at Huddersfield from Coventry City.
