Is Sam Mitchell deserving of punishment from NBATV for his pregame behavior?

Sam Mitchell’s disclosure of TV host Chris Miles’ speech on Friday during the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings preseason game has sparked calls from fans for NBATV to punish him. Mitchell, the former NBA head coach, took exception with Miles’ quip after an interview with Steve Kerr.

In contrast to the athletes representing Team USA, Kerr did not win a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics. During the pregame segment, the NBATV announcer made a joke about the former coach maybe working pro gratis instead of getting paid.

“I find it surprising that coaches get paid for this program. After Miles stated, “I think maybe you should do it pro bono, my friend,” Mitchell joked, “You know, the last time I looked at my check, it’s pretty close.” I’m accepting donations, so, hey. Given that you’re boasting about your wealth over there, why don’t you take some of it off of it?

At this point, Mitchell and Miles’s lighthearted banter took a negative turn.

“Oh, I apologize. During the hurricane, did you rent out your Florida beach house? Or should I leave? What about your Buckhead townhouse? Asking Mitchell.

Hello, what’s happening? In response, Miles asked, “What? ” Sam questioned. Do you want to confront me? Really, come on. You’re starving, broke, and yelling. Come and examine it. I am aware of what you own and your residence. Therefore, you must stop.

Following that, Miles tries to wrap off the section by introducing the Warriors vs. Kings game, but Mitchell manages to fit in one last, atrocious shot that becomes viral on social media, according to X, formerly Twitter.

“[You] will never longer tease me on public television. That’s what I already told you. Hello, should I disclose the address? Because you’re not at home at this moment,” Mitchell yells before providing the address in San Destin, Florida in real time.

Following Sam Mitchell’s announcement of Chris Miles’ speech on national television, NBA fans took to social media, with the vast majority of them demanding that he be fired.

On X, the previous Twitter, a fan posted, “Bro should be fired,” to which another fan responded, “he should be more than fired.”

Another Warriors supporter said, “Nah, THIS MAN IS GETTING FIRED IMMEDIATELY.”

“He allowed his feelings to control him.” He’s been on NBA TV for a while, but this is totally wrong, and he ought to be fired, said one fan. Another brought up the subject of violence, saying, “Naww, he woulda had to get these hands after the set.” Irrespective of his age.
