Matteo Berrettini lavished praise on Jannik Sinner after the 2024 US Open win. The World No. 1 recently won his second Slam in New York, defeating Taylor Fritz in the final.

Sinner defeated the likes of Tommy Paul, Daniil Medvedev, and Jack Draper on his way to the final, where he bettered Fritz to emphatically lift his second Major title of the year, after the 2024 Australian Open.

Berrettini talked about Sinner’s US Open brilliance during a press conference ahead of the Davis Cup group stage. The 2021 Wimbledon finalist lavished praise on the 23-year-old for his dedication to improve and his outlook towards the future.

“There are many things I would steal from Jannik. One above all, dedication to work, the ability to always want to improve. He arrived in the elite of tennis at a very young age and never wanted to stop, and if you hear him speak he is always looking to the future, this is a quality that the greats have,” Matteo Berrettini said.

The 28-year-old said he wanted Sinner’s dedication towards improvement to rub off on him as he continues to push towards his goals.

“That type of approach is a bit innate and a bit of work; therefore, I am trying to do the same, to continue to push, continue to find goals, feel important stimuli. It is not just about rankings or tournaments, but the joy of improving yourself,” he said.
