Breaking News: Patrick Mahomes raves about two new Kansas City Chiefs signings saying there irrelevant Due to…

Brett Veach and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs organisation knew there was room to improve even though they won the Super Bowl.

Since then they have dedicated themselves to bringing the best to the franchise in 2024 and assembling a powerful army around Patrick Mahomes.

All in all, both the free agency and the Draft conducted by KC were quite remarkable.

The work was very well focussed on the pieces that were really missing from the squad and those that could add to it in order to recover the offensive traits so emblematic of Mahomes’ era.

The quarterback is ready to lead his team to another winning season and achieve a feat never before done in the NFL.

A bold bet, but one with a lot of potential

One of Kansas City’s additions was Welshman Louis Rees-Zammit, from rugby league.

The player gave up a significant career in sport to try and make it to the NFL… and he succeeded, in the most hyped and successful team of the moment.

Rees-Zammit caught the eye for his speed and athleticism.

In fact, when the Chiefs made the Welsh player’s arrival official, there was a clash between fans and the media.

Mahomes made an exclusive appearance on Riggle’s Picks podcast and revealed his opinion on the rookie.

Rees-Zammit’s characteristics are still unknown to a large part of the NFL community.

“We thought of him as running back, he’s gonna do a lof of special teams stuff. And he can actually catch. So it looks different. He catches it like he’s catching a rugby, but he never drops the football. So you don’t complain on it.”

The QB said that the foreigner’s dedication is very impressive and praiseworthy.

“And I think what’s been the best part about it is he works his tail off, man. He understands he needs to get better, he needs to continue to work, but the athletic ability is unreal – the 24 MPH wherever they clocked him in rugby is real, my boy he’s fast and just about him learning football now compared to rugby and, you know, he’s got the toughness,” Mahomes said.

“But until he gets in the game and understands how to move and how to use that athletic ability, you don’t know exactly where he’s at but he’s in space, man, he can make stuff happen.“

Xavier Worthy and the return of long throws

Still on the subject of “new signings”, Mahomes was asked about the development of Xavier Worthy, the wide receiver selected by the Chiefs in the first round.

The newbie pass-catcher got a little injured in rookie mincamp, but Pat has his own opinion on him.

“We added him, he’s been out there running around, another guy, fastest – 40 at the combine, 421… He’s extremely fast,” claimed.

“It’s good to get those young guys in there and they get the experienced coach Reid’s practices, which are a little bit harder and I think they’ve never experience before.”

Naturally, Mahomes proudly mentioned the big signing of the offseason: “We get him in there and then another guy, Hollywood Brown, he’s been in there, another super fast guy and it’s good for them to go up against our defense,”

“I mean, we had the best defense in the league last year and for them to get to compete against those dudes… And there’s a lot of trash talk and it’s a healthy trash talk, but I love it, it just be able to go up against the best of the best every single day.”

Thinking about the three-peat, the signal-caller seems calm. For him, the pressure to win the back-to-back Super Bowl was greater than winning a third consecutive title.

Should the Kansas City Chiefs officially shake up their NFL dynasty by winning the three-peat, the main challenge ahead will be to maintain it.

Sustaining a dynasty means having very talented and, above all, young players at your disposal. Youth is the key.

Looking at KC’s current squad, there are plenty of young players, but the team’s stars are no longer so young. Two examples of this are Travis Kelce and Chris Jones, who are now 35 or thereabouts.

That’s why the work needs to start many years earlier. And the organisation seems to be on the right track.

The young group that makes and will make the KC machine work

With the great mission of 2024 in mind, Brett Veach opted for a mix of veterans and youngsters. Experience combined with freshness.

The offense, led by Patrick Mahomes, includes older players, others of average age and rookies.

Travis Kelce, Isaiah Pacheco, Rashee Rice, Creed Humphrey, Joe Thuney, among others.

This year, the franchise hired and drafted new names. Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy and Jared Wiley…

The defense, one of the youngest in the NFL, is led by the voice of experience: Chris Jones. Along with him, Mike Pennel Jr, Drue Tranquill, George Karlaftis, Trent McDuffie and many others make up the unit.

Analyst who thinks there should be another WR on the Chiefs

The league’s training camp is coming up, which means the season is getting closer and closer.

A Pro Football Focus analyst, Thomaz Valentine, wrote an article this week about an action that every NFL team should take before heading off to training camp.

NFL expert suggests that the Chiefs make a trade involving Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.

Valentine’s justification is that Travis Kelce is in his decline and Higgins still has many years to play.

“The Chiefs have long been in the hypothetical market for a receiver despite signing Marquise Brown to a one-year deal in free agency. The Bengals might not be too content with the idea of trading Tee Higgins to a Super Bowl-contending rival, especially when those rivals are the reigning Super Bowl champions, but a long-term contract doesn’t appear to be on the horizon for Higgins. Rather than let him walk, the Bengals could look to move him for future draft picks,’” said.

“The Chiefs should throw themselves into the sweepstakes. Travis Kelce might not have too many years left in the tank, and Higgins would give Mahomes a legitimate X receiver.”

There’s no chance of the Bengals trading the pass-catcher for draft picks, even more so for a rival like KC.

2023 was a competitive season, and at the same time full of novelties in the NFL.

The Kansas City Chiefs, favourites to win the Super Bowl for at least five years, maintained their position and won the championship ring.

However, new teams have emerged as powerhouses for the coming seasons. This is the case with the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions… squads that have undergone a massive rebuild and are now reaping the rewards.

However, the Baltimore Ravens, who have already established themselves as a team capable of reaching the SB, were unable to beat KC in the AFC Championship, but the stakes are good for this year.

The Cincinnati Bengals, the only team to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs in recent years, are coming off a difficult 2023 due to Joe Burrow’s injury, which ruined any plans they had. The quarterback is now healthy and hungry to reach the post-season again, but this time to secure the title.

AFC team capable of beating the Chiefs

KC’s season last year went from strength to strength until they reached the playoffs.

A weakened offense that lacked strength took over the games, while the defense carried the weight and proved to be the key to victory for many weeks.

Despite winning the Super Bowl, Kansas City proved to be a beatable squad until the post-season.

That’s why, in the year of the three-peat, some believe that the defending champions will be defeated.

And there are two specific teams that are tipped as possible threats to the Chiefs.

On a recent edition of the Speak show, the debate among the analysts was whether the Baltimore Ravens really are the team KC needs to keep an eye on in 2024.

Ric Bucher denied the possibility and brought up the Bengals as the franchise that is probably in a position to overcome Andy Reid’s team: “The Cincinnati Bengals for a multitude of reasons. I mean, we’re gonna debate it here and I’m gonna debate it with Shady, but in reality, there’s not really anything to debate.”

He elaborated: “The Bengals have beaten them three out of four times. They’ve beaten them when they’ve had a mediocre defense. They’ve beaten them when they’ve only rushed for 60 yards, they’ve beaten them without Joe Mixon.”

“The only (time) that they beat them was when the Chiefs got 10 hits on Joe Burrow – they’ve (Bengals) beaten them under every circumstance. They’ve beaten them in Arrowhead,” Bucher added.

“So when I look at it in totality, the only time that they’ve lost is when Joe Burrow has thrown more interceptions than TDs. And that’s only happened twice to him in the playoffs out of seven playoff games.”

He insinuated that with both squads 100 per cent healthy, the Bengals are more assured than the Chiefs.

“Do I expect that that would happen again? Highly unlikely. So, for all the reasons that when the Chiefs have been at their best and the Bengals have been at their best, both have been healthy and even when the Bengals have been compromised, they found a way to beat the Kansas City Chiefs more times than the Kansas City Chiefs have beaten the Bengals.”

Former NFL player sees Kansas City Chiefs themselves as a threat

LeSean McCoy, former Kansas City Chiefs, responded to the debate in an unusual way.

According to Shady, the Chiefs are their own threat: “I would say this, I just think that the biggest threat for the Chiefs is the Chiefs because who can really beat them?”

He argued about the positions the Ravens and Bengals are in and that both aren’t capable of challenging KC’s dominance.

“We keep talking about Joe Burrow and then the Bengals, they kind of beat him, right? Even Thanos lost a fight or two, right? But we know how dominant he was… When you look at what the Chiefs are really building there, they’re building a dynasty for real.”

McCoy believes that all the new additions make the Chiefs unstoppable.

“Last year was the worst I’ve ever seen the Chiefs look. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen Andy Reid’s offense ever look, right? Calling players or not calling players. When you look at the way they turned it on the playoffs is phenomenal.”

“What the hell do you think will happen this year? I don’t know how good the Bengals got in the offseason. I don’t know how good the Ravens got in the offseason.”

“I know the Chiefs got better. I know the worst we ever seen the Chiefs was last year and they won a championship, right.”

“Now they get better, explosive offense for God’s sakes. They got the fastest guy in college football in the draft. Then you add Marquis Brown, so it’s like they’re gonna get better and better and better.”

Shady made it clear that he’s not worried about possible threats to the current champions.

“I look at the Ravens Lamar Jackson MVP quarterback, right? Ravens top defense in football, best team in football and you still can’t beat the Chiefs when they’re at the weakest point. How you gonna beat them now?”
