Han-Noah Massengo, a 22-year-old French midfielder, is reportedly a target for Leeds United.

 

Han-Noah Massengo is a player that Leeds United are considering signing, according to recent sources.

The French forward, 22, has become a free agent after leaving Bristol City, making his signing quite simple.

Considering that Massengo joined at the age of 18, the Robins may have paid as much as £7 million for him, depending on if

add-ons were satisfied.

Although there is no transfer fee to pay, the Championship team would be entitled to compensation in accordance with FIFA

regulations. He would fetch modest wages at Elland Road.

According to the rules, a transfer to another European club would cost about £250,000, while a transfer to an English club

would cost much more.

When Massengo joined BS3, it was regarded as quite the coup because he was a rising star in Europe.

With his enthusiastic efforts in the middle, he immediately became a fan favorite, but when used as a defensive midfielder,

he struggled with consistency.

City fans will be quick to admit that the Frenchman is a thrilling player full of technical quality, energy and the ability to

influence a game despite his age.

His most notable skill is the way he glides around the pitch whilst carrying the ball, which could make him a perfect bridge

between defence and attack.

There’s no suggestion that he could operate as an effective number 10 and Leeds are looking elsewhere in that department –

namely Gustavo Hamer from Coventry City.

Goals and assists are significantly absent from his game but that can be a trait that develops as a box-to-box midfielder

matures.

Leeds are looking for several midfielder reinforcements but could be well-stocked in deep-lying areas, so this signing would

feel like an acquisition of a number eight.

However, the Whites are likely to face some stiff competition with Premier League clubs, including Burnley, and many

suitors around Europe considering a bid.

The Monaco academy graduate made 100 appearances for Bristol City before spending the second half of last season on loan

at Ligue 1 side Auxerre.

Klaesson is clearly a goalkeeper with potential, but has had little chance of making an impression at Leeds. His confidence is

likely to be low. But making him second choice, the chance of game time, and U21 first choice helps.

It makes sense to bring him into the reckoning, a level up – rather than having to sign a goalkeeper to play back-up.

Especially, if the club decide not to keep Robles – which seems more and more likely. Klaesson as second choice.
