JUST NOW: Reversing his January decision, Postecoglou now thinks differently about the £17 million-rated ace.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil was linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window.

According to a report from Football Insider, the 22-year-old Spanish winger decided to turn down approaches from other clubs and he chose to stay at Tottenham and fight for his place until the end of the season.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has now made a U-turn and he is prepared to hand the player first-team opportunities in the coming months after freezing him out initially.

Gil has barely had any opportunities this season and he will be hoping to play more often and prove himself at the Premier League club. He was regarded as a prodigious talent during his time in Spain and he could prove to be a useful option for Tottenham if he manages to recapture his form and confidence.

According to recent reports, Tottenham value the player at £17 million and they could easily fetch a respectable amount of money for him at the end of the season, if he manages to impress during the second half of the campaign. Keeping him on the bench will only see his value depreciate over the next few months.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops with regards to the Spanish winger.

Tottenham are pushing for Champions League qualification and they could use all the help they can get. The 22-year-old could add creativity and technical ability in the final third. He could help open up deep defences and create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has criticised Richarlison for not celebrating his goals against Everton.

The Brazilian striker is in impressive form right now and he scored an outstanding brace against his former club at the weekend. However, he decided not to celebrate his goals out of respect for his former employers.

That has not gone down well with Sherwood who believes that Richarlison looked miserable scoring against the Toffees.

“If he didn’t celebrate the first one, surely he has to put a smile on his face for his second goal,” Sherwood told Premier League Productions (03/02/24 at 1:30 pm). .

“If you feel that bad about it, then stop scoring goals. Look at him, he’s devastated. You can’t be devastated.”

Richarlison has had a difficult time at Tottenham since his move from Everton. The 26-year-old is slowly getting back to his best and Sherwood’s criticism is quite surprising. It is quite common for players to avoid celebrations against former clubs.

Richarlison had a good bond with Everton fans during his time at Goodison Park and his actions were completely justified.

It will be interesting to see if the Brazilian striker decides to respond to the comments from the former Tottenham manager. The 26-year-old can be quite outspoken when it comes to criticism.

Tottenham fans will not be bothered about the comments from Sherwood. They will be delighted with the striker’s recent performances and they will hope that he can continue to score goals on a consistent basis.

He was expected to step up and fill the void left by Harry Kane this season and he has certainly shown that he has that quality in recent weeks. The 26-year-old has now bagged nine goals in his last ten appearances across all competitions.
