Who is Roony Bardghji, the 'new Ibrahimovic' who wants to play for Real Madrid?

Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs to have shown interest in FC Copenhagen star Roony Bardghji.

On December 21st, we relayed news from Denmark that Tottenham are the winger’s ‘big suitor’. A few days later, InterLive.it reported Ange Postecoglou has explicitly requested Spurs sign the 18-year-old.

Tipsbladet now explain that the Sweden international is ready to take the next step in his career.

Bardghji has been speaking to Tipsbladet and with claims of interest from Tottenham and other clubs, he won’t close the door on leaving Copenhagen this week.

“I can’t answer that. I’m happy here, but what happens, happens. It’s very difficult to say, and I don’t think about it either,” he said.

As well as the north London club, Chelsea and Barcelona are also credited with interest in the Sweden international.

On these links, Bardghji explained: “It’s nice and big. It’s a dream that big clubs want one, but at the same time my focus is here. But of course, it’s big.”

The youngster has clocked in 1469 minutes from 29 games this season, scoring 10 goals in the process.

Although he seems ready to take the next step, a move to Tottenham or another big club won’t guarantee him regular game time. Bardghji says he’ll take this into consideration ‘quite calmly’.

“I’ll take that when it comes. Right now, I’m not thinking about it that much. I have to wait for a bid from a club and then you have to see which club wants you and then you have to think about those things there. It’s hard to answer now as I don’t think about it that much,” he added.

Last month, Bardghji changed agents and is now represented by England based CAA Base. Their client lists include a few Spurs players, including James Maddison, Heung-min Son and Pedro Porro.

The existing relationship will be boost for Tottenham, if they decide to go ahead and try to sign the Swede in this window.

‘Not leaving’… Fabrizio Romano suggests ‘fantastic’ defender will not be joining Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to be able to bring Riccardo Calafiori to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this week.

That is according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has stated Bologna’s stance on Calafiori at the moment.

So, what has been reported about Tottenham Hotspur-linked Riccardo Calafiori? Let’s take a look.

Bologna stance on Tottenham Hotspur-linked Riccardo Calafiori

Well, Fabrizio Romano has said that Bologna will not sell Riccardo Calafiori this week.

The Italian journalist has noted that Calafiori is playing well for Bologna, who have no intention of selling the central defender in the final days of the January transfer window.

Romano has said that a lot of clubs are scouting the 21-year-old centre-back, but he does not see the Italy Under-21 international moving to Tottenham this week.

Earlier this month, Quatidiano Sportivo and Tutto Bologna Web reported that Spurs side are interested in signing Calafiori, who can also operate as a left-back.

Calafiori has made 16 starts and two substitute appearances in Serie A for Bologna this season. He has given one assist in those games.

Romano told GiveMeSport about Calafiori: “There are many Tottenham links to centre-backs, but at the moment, I’m honestly unaware of anything imminent.

“I think they’re pleased with Dragusin. Van de Ven is back, and Romero is in good condition. I don’t think they are looking for something imminent in that position.

“If there’s an opportunity, we know Tottenham are always ready, but I’m unaware of anything imminent.

“Calafiori is not leaving Bologna in the winter transfer window for sure. He’s a player being scouted by many European clubs and is doing fantastic at Bologna this season. But it’s not something that is happening right now.”

My View: Tottenham Hotspur do not need Riccardo Calafiori

In my opinion, Tottenham Hotspur should not sign Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, especially so late in the January transfer window.

I do not think that Spurs need to sign Calafiori. He is unlikely to get into Ange Postecoglou’s starting lineup.

Tottenham do not need another centre-back in the middle of the season. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are the two main central defenders.

Romero and Van de Ven start when they are fit and available. Both players have done well this season.

Tottenham signed Radu Dragusin earlier in the January transfer window. Ben Davies is also an option for Spurs, although there is speculation that Leeds United want him.
