Good news: Klopp could now start truly ‘fantastic’ 20-year-old for Liverpool tonight, he’s a star in the making

Liverpool’s trip to Sheffield United on Wednesday night will be an attempt to close the distance between them and the Premier League summit.

Arsenal, who defeated Liverpool on Tuesday night in their matchweek 15 encounter, is presently five points ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in the standings.

Joel Matip, who suffered a knee injury during Liverpool’s victory against Fulham over the weekend and will have a scan, will be absent from the match against the bottom-place team in the Premier League.

The Reds fear that the 32-year-old’s knee ligament injury will keep him out of the lineup for several months, according to publications like The Guardian.

In defense, Klopp will have to choose between Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, and Jarell Quansah to partner Virgil van Dijk now that Matip is sidelined.

Liverpool have a star in the making in Jarell Quansah

We feel that the Liverpool boss will opt for Quansah on this occasion, for a number of reasons.

One could be as reward for his efforts and development this term, and the other could be a mix of the quick turnaround in games and the fact they’re up against ‘weaker’ opposition on paper.

Obviously Liverpool will have to be at their best against Sheffield United, who could well have the ‘new manager bounce’ with Chris Wilder now in the dugout.

However, Quansah has already proven himself at the highest level. Besides, the more starts he gets, the more experience he’ll gain, which is the best thing in the short and long term.

Klopp, speaking to the Liverpool media team in September, said the 20-year-old is a “fantastic” talent who had a “super” pre-season. He suggested he’d keep picking him, and that has proven the case.

Quansah has made 10 appearances for the Reds and, the way he’s going, there will no doubt be many more on the horizon.
