Liverpool consider bid to beat Everton to Archie Gray transfer at Leeds United
Liverpool are considering a bid to beat Everton, Crystal Palace and others to the signature of Leeds United wonder Archie Gray, according to theĀ Scottish Daily Mail.
The newspaper shared in its print edition [14 November, back page] that Gray is worth Ā£40million to the Championship club, and it would take a bid of that magnitude to prise him away from Elland Road.
This is amid claims by Leeds captain Liam Cooper that he is trying to convince the 17-year-old to switch international allegiances from England to Scotland.
A promising young star
Gray has made 17 Championship appearances for the Yorkshire club already and has become a significant part of the first-team setup at Elland Road, attracting interest from Premier League sides who look set now to compete over his future.
The level of the clubs interested in his signature is a testament to his ability and the promise he has shown already in his short professional career after he made his debut in Daniel Farkeās side earlier this season and has quickly made himself a starter.
A Ā£40million price tag shows just how highly Leeds value him, as an academy product from a long family line of Leeds players, and they will hope that the large demand puts interested sides off of a deal. Everton may be one of those unwilling to pay such a high fee.
Given the ongoing financial situation at the club, it is hard to see the Toffees launching a bid of that magnitude to bring him to Goodison Park, and if Liverpool are interested, it may be difficult to convince him regardless.
In other Everton news,Ā a journalist claimed one player is now finished at the club.

Harry Kane names only Bayern star better than him, in comment thatāll excite Liverpool amid Klopp push
Harry Kane has named rumoured Liverpool target Leroy Sane as the best player in the Bayern team this season, despite the England striker netting an incredible 21 goals in his first 16 matches for the German giants.
Kane left the Premier League in the summer by signing for Bayern in a deal worth an initialĀ ā¬100m (Ā£86m), though the transfer has the potential to rise to Ā£105m through add-ons.
Upon the completion of the move, Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel praised his club for managing to prise the Three Lions captain away from his home country.
Kane has enjoyed a sensational start to life in Bavaria, notching more goals than games so far.
His stunning record includes a hat-trick in the recent 4-0 rout over rivals Borussia Dortmund.
After Kane scored another brace in Bayern’s 4-2 victory over Heidenheim, the former Tottenham player was questioned about Sane.
In the relatively short time that they have been playing together, the two have formed an irreversible partnership.
Kane was humble in his response, as he labelled Sane as Bayernās top-performing player this campaign, despite his own record-breaking achievements.
āHe [Sane] has great pace and outstanding power,āĀ Kane saidĀ (viaĀ Get Football News Germany). āLeroy is probably our best player so far this season. He is fantastic.
āEven today, when it was 2-2, I had the feeling that he was the player who would lift us up again.
He is such an important player for us with his skills. Today he made two assists for me again, which is great. I hope we keep this connection.ā
Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer added on Sane: āThe quality and skills ā we know what a gem we have in the team. Thatās why itās not surprising to me.
He is extremely important for our game because he can make the difference.ā
Liverpool interested in Leroy Sane as Salah replacement
LiverpoolĀ boss Jurgen Klopp will be delighted to hear such high praise for the winger. Sane has been identified by Liverpool as a potential replacement for Mo Salah on the right flank, with the Egyptian known to be a target for Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ittihad.
Sane is in arguably the best form of his career, and he could therefore arrive at Anfield full of confidence next summer.
While the 27-year-old is not quite as efficient in front of goal as Salah, he is still incredibly hard for opposition defenders to keep at bay.
Although, Sane is not the most likely Bayern attacker to end up at Liverpool at the end of the campaign.
The Reds are also keeping tabs on Jamal Musialaās situation, in case the playmaker opts against extending his contract with Bayern.
Musialaās current deal expires in June 2026, and he has warned Tuchel that he will become unhappy if he does not start most big games.
